Mental Health Support Following a Disaster
Mental Health Support Following a Disaster
This workshop is an interactive, face-to-face training that provides non-mental health professionals with the concepts associated with the psychological impact of disasters, and with the skills to provide immediate assistance to those who may be impacted. This specialized training provides perspectives on injuries and trauma that are beyond those physical in nature. The model of response to be presented is readily applicable to public health settings, the workplace, the military, faith-based organizations, mass disaster venues, and even the demands of more commonplace critical events, such as dealing with the psychological aftermath of accidents, robberies, suicide, homicide, or community violence.
