Gerard Butler, star of the environmental disaster film, Geostorm, was involved in a crash on his motorcycle. According to Butler, he was riding his motorcycle when he was cut off by driver making an illegal u-turn. He told ET that he, "smacked the car, went flying through the air and did a somersault and landed and it hurt a bit." Butler was lucky to come away with 5 fractures in his right foot and torn meniscus. At least, Butler was able to leave the accident with a new outlook on life. He explained to ET that the collision, "made me really appreciate how precious life is because I could have landed any number of ways that would have taken me out." Butler was not embellishing how serious his injuries could have been.
New technology allows for motorcyclists to anticipate accidents
Motorcyclists have at least 30 times the likelihood of being involved in fatal crashes than their vehicle-driving counterparts.
Motorcycle Safety Awareness Heightened After Set Crash
Following the fatal accident that killed Joi Harris in Vancouver, many industry professionals are left wondering why Harris was put in that position. Harris, an acclaimed road racer, had zero experience doing stunts for films. Stunt coordinators and drivers alike are left baffled and in shock over her tragic death. Some were critical of the decision to let Harris attempt the stunt. Conrad Palmisano, a film stunt coordinator with 47 years of expertise in the industry, said, "she rode 300cc cycles. The one she crashed on was 900cc motorcycle - much bigger, more powerful."
How California Highway Patrol helps motorcyclists avoid crashes
Thousands of Californians take to the road to travel by motorcycle on a daily basis. While many do so as a way of enjoying the sunny weather and beautiful vistas the state has to offer, others do so in an effort to try and steer clear of traffic jams.
Camp Pendleton to Offer Safety Training to Marine Riders
Following multiple fatal crashes involving Marines in Southern California, officials of Camp Pendleton decided to offer special motorcycle safety training. This summer, three marines passed away in motorcycle collisions in the greater San Diego area. According to John Waltmon, the Traffic Safety Manager for United States Marine Corps, "a lot of it has to do with inability to stop or control the motorcycle." The program offered at Camp Pendleton is designed to teach situational awareness while riding motorcycles. As many riders can confirm, so much of experienced motorcycle riding revolves around predicting other drivers' decisions. Too often are motorcyclists struck by drunk drivers whose behavior is often unpredictable on the road.
Safety tips that can help motorcyclists avoid accidents
Many Southern Californians have taken to riding motorcycles in recent years as a way to get around the ever-present traffic jams that seem to exist in every major city across the region. Currently in California, there are 1.3 million licensed motorcycle operators.
Motorcycle passenger killed by driver's left turn

The dangers of motorcycle crashes demand attention
Motorcycle accidents are often deadly. The ones that don't result in a fatality are likely going to result in a serious injury. The dangers of motorcycle crashes are the reason why motorcyclists and motorists alike must remain alert and focused when they drive.
Avoiding motorcycle accidents in California
Motorcycles are cost-effective and a great shortcut through Los Angeles traffic. But they can be dangerous, and a motorcycle rider is far more likely than a car or truck driver to die in an accident.
Wearable Airbags for Motorcyclists Popularity Is Rising
For the longest time, many considered it an impossibility to protect a motorcyclist beyond the typical body armor and helmet. As early as 1976, airbag vests have been a plausible means of additional safety for riders. However, it wasn't until professional riders started wearing these devices did their popularity begin to rise. When Marc Marquez crashed at 209.9 mph and walked away, many companies and people began to believe in their ability to significantly reduce injury. While no airbag will completely remove the possibility of injury from an accident, Honda studies have shown the effectiveness of properly positioned air bag systems for motorcycle riders. So where does this leave us with today's technology?
